WebProWorld Members,

Ok, so today's ed's note is completely random and off topic as far as internet stuff goes. Have you all ever seen fainting goats? I hadn't heard about them until yesterday at lunch when my co-workers somehow brought up the subject. Here is a video of the goats in action. Isn't it crazy how they just fall over like that? Apparently their muscles freeze for roughly 10 seconds when the goat is startled (I learned that from Wikipedia). :)

Our featured post today comes from mjw, who has a question about strange ranking results. mjw's site ranks high in Google but not in MSN and Yahoo. He wants to know how he can make his site rank well in all the search engines. If you can help, click here!

As for the remaining three post, the first wants info on Google and redirects. The second needs help explaining www in a URL. And the third wants to know if his link is SEO friendly.

Strange Ranking Results
Strange Ranking Results

I've been checking search engine rankings with an online tool and received some results I can't explain, but wish to understand.

For example the website, using the keywords 'education supplies uk', gets the following results:

Google: #2
Yahoo! Search: No - Not in top 50
MSN: No - Not in top 50
AOL: #2

Why is it that the site ranks so high using the Google and AOL search engine, and get such bad results using Yahoo! or MSN? How can I make the website rank better in the other search engines?

I have a new website! It is my personal portfolio with information about what I could do for you as a webdesigner/webdeveloper. It is in dutch but I guess people get the picture... What I would like to know is what people here think of the website in general.

Google And Redirect

In my site, the root file (default.asp) redirects to an internal file using the following script:

<%@ Language=VBScript %>
<%
Option explicit
Response.Buffer = true
Response.Status= "301 Moved Permanently"
Response.AddHeader "Location","inside/default2.asp"
Response.end
%>

Does Google follow the redirect and give my site a pr according the content of the internal file?

WWW In URL

I'm trying to explain to a programmer that all the pages in the site need to have the www in front of the domain name (that's how the main domain is listed with Google and it's clear there's a problem with the others not having the www).

I know that's a core thing in that somewhere in the basic programming the site is instructed to look at it with or without the www.

So how do I explain it to him so that it lists the www as a core thing. Am I making sense?
