Is anyone out there into college basketball? Being from Kentucky, I was born a Wildcat fan. March Madness has begun and everyone around here is basketball crazy! Quite a few people in this state tend to take off work when Kentucky is playing so they don't miss any basketball action. After all, UK is the winningest men's college basketball program in the nation, which is something all of us fans are very proud of. Go Cats!

Our featured post today comes from steven1976a, who is pleased Google is displaying the main page of his website along with links to different areas of the site... But, he has some questions as to which links Google displays, and if they can be controlled. If you can help, click here!

As for the remaining posts, the first has questions about redirected links. The second needs help with FTP. And the third has some questions on getting a site indexed.

Google Results Are We Special?
Google Results Are we Special?

Ive seen on some big websites previously like Amazon or high street stores in google results it sometimes displays the main page of the website and then under this it has links to different areas of the site.

I came across the same thing for our website when searching "Body jewelry Shopping" body jewelry shopping - Google Search

1. It is quite pleasing to see but does anyone know why it decides to show the results with links to other sub catagories
2. Can we control which links it displays?

Redirected Links

If a website links to my website using a redirect type link such as

Code:

www.website.net/goto.php4?url=http://www.mysite.com=Log&add=

Is that dodgy at all, I am thinking it is probably just a link that is counting stats for the link, but is it dodgy and can a SE follow it, or do they attribute the mysite.com content to the redirecting site?

I guess I am asking can such types of links do my website any harm?

Need Help With FTP

I have been struggling with a few ftp accounts I have created.

Firstly I get an error when I feed in the password in Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.12 ----- 530 login authentication failed Second I get an error in IE which say cannot display web page and only after several attempts it connects. (I know I do not have an internet speed or connection problem)

This ftp acc. is for some clients and they are not very tech savvy...

Ideally I would like them to just click the link and upload/download the data through IE (Is it possible to upload through this method or will they need an FTP client) Also maybe all of them don't work on windows or don't have windows XP so the windows explorer option is out.

Getting Site Indexed

I currently have have over 40 websites I have designed and am hosting at Hostgator.

My most recent website is Best Waders - Unique Hunting and Fishing Products , that is being set up for an ecommerce. Its still in progress but the owner of the business is questioning why it is not being found by the search engines.

Monday morning the url was submitted to numerous search engines including google, yahoo and MSN. I also put a link to it on two of my higher volume sites that get crawled daily figuring that it would help this site to get indexed quickly.

I looked at the Awstats on my cpanel and it shows that google, google sitemaps and MSN robots have been to the site. But if I do search at any of the search engines for bestwaders.com it isn't found. Also used google webmasters tools to check it out and it doesn't show any pages being indexed.
