Did you know that today marks the traditional Lunar New Year for several Asian cultures? I didn't until I saw Google's logo today, which symbolizes the Year of the Rat. It is the first of the 12-year cycle of animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac related to the Chinese calendar. The rat is associated with aggression, wealth, charm, and order, yet also associated with death, war, the occult, pestilence, and atrocities. Just a little tidbit for you incase you were wondering what the Google logo meant like I was. :)
Our featured post today comes from shamarkaleo, who wonders if hosting your blog on your site helps the page rank. She used to think since there is free hosting space out there, like Blogger, then why not use it? But now, she isn't so sure. What's your opinion?
As far as the remaining posts go, the first needs a little clarification with lower metrics and higher traffic. The second post has a duplicate site penalty question. And today's final post needs help with denied access to a web hosting account.

Hosted Blog- PR Builder?
I'm about to showcase my ignorance in a spectacular way. But I'd really like some clarification on this, so here's my question:
Does hosting your blog on your web site increase the site's page rank?
I've been told that hosting a blog on your site (as in: www.mysite.com/blog) will raise the site's PR, and boost all the site's other pages in SERPs.

I am a wedding DJ on Long Island NY.
I used to have my music listed on this website. The traffic was amazing but not related to my DJ business. I noticed people were coming to my website specifically to search through my music lists.

Search Engine Optimization Forum Lower Metrics but Higher Traffic and Better SERPs
After the last Google update, many sites' page rank went down, including one of my sites.
In studying my stats, it's apparent that the traffic has increased most likely because of the better positioning of my site's keywords in Google, Yahoo and MSN.
However I've noticed that my Alexa rank went for 400,000+ to 1,300,000+. What is up with that. It seems all my metrics went way down but one of my sites is doing a lot better. I don't have to do PPC at all for this site but I'm very concerned about my other site. The PR went down from 5 to 3 and the alexa rank also plummeted. How can that be?

Google AdWords/Google AdSense Local Search Client- Duplicate Site Penalty Issues
My client had an existing site with a company - accountantsworld. I started him on a PPC campaign.
For the first two days, we did really well, drove a couple of phone calls, emails and walkins that were really profitable....
Two days in, my impressions dropped significantly, and our CPC went up dramatically.

IT Discussion Forum Data Center Connectivity Issues
Dear IT Gurus,
Can someone please tell me who is denying my access to my web hosting accounts. I've been down for over a week and both Netfirms and Rogers(my ISP) have said the problem is not caused by them. I only have troubles accessing the Netfirms website from my home. I can access it from anywhere else. I need resolution, so i can drop one provider or the other and fix this issue.
Troubleshooting:
1. I've disabled my anti-virus. (i don't use a firewall)
2. I've connected directly to the cable box
