WebProWorld Members,

Welcome back from what I hope was a thrilling weekend! As you can see I am filling in for Chris today, so bear with me and we can get through this together... Everyone at iEntry had a wonderful halfday at Keeneland on Friday, but today is Monday and a whole week of adventure awaits us.

I hope you all remembered to turn your clock's back an hour yesterday, otherwise this morning would have given you a nasty surprise. I would have forgotten had my cell phone not automatically updated itself - hooray for technology! Speaking of technology, we have quite a few interesting articles to choose from today.

First we have Dan Lawrence experiencing an unwanted removal from Google, because of a non-malicious hidden text and he was kind enough to share his story with us, so that others can perhaps be saved the frustration. Up next is AjiNIMC with his 11 things to watch out for in SEO, very helpful to those just learning about the wacky world of SEO. Astro raises an interesting question about "different but similar domain names pointed to different pages of the same website" and whether or not this would be regarded as spamming by the search engines. Do'nt forget to take a look at our featured site, in the post we have what the old site looked like as well for further reference!

Well its time to cut out of here so you guys have a fantastic Monday evening and Chris will be with you tomorrow!

Deletion of sites history due to non-malicious hidden text

Earlier this month I noticed my GoogleUK SERPS totally collapase to the extent that I thought I had been kicked of Googles index altogether. I received an e-mail 'apparantly' confirming my worst fears......stating that I had been removed from the index because of hidden text on my home page.

It turns out this is because of the hidden text included on every ShopFactory created website up until SF recently released an upgrade created after I bought this issue to their attention (Since Shop21.uk.com was the first SF created site to be kicked off google).

Strangely though I was still getting a SERP for 'Shop21', my company name, so I had not been removed from the index after all, I had just had all my SERPS decimated to such a low position I cant find any of them apart from 'Shop21'. For aprox 5 Years my website has held Page 1 positions for all the keywords & phrases relating to the products I sell on Google.co.uk (most also repeated on google.com). A good example of a keyword I have held a Position #1, Page 1 on Google UK is 'Griffin iTrip' for which shop21 is still currently #2 on Google.com but no ranking at all on GoogleUK anymore.  Read Replies

Multiple domains......spamming search engines?

I have noted that it is a growing trend (here in Greece anyway) to have different but similar domain names pointed to different pages of the same website, plus a couple pointed to the index page.

Is this wise, could this not be thought spamming of the search engine thus hurt your page ranking?

If not, (whilst the dear chaps out here have not dropped on this yet....and may be they know something I don't) I could see an argument for registering a host of domain names all search questions and keywords then pointing them to the same IP addresses with a website.

If this was done what is search engine policy on pointing multiple domains and/or redirects to what is in reality the same website?  Read Replies

Site not being displayed on Google SERPs... why?

We recently did a website for a client of ours - Best of Friends Dating Agency.

We restructured the HTML to make it syntactically valid and put more content on the site with a higher keyword density too.

The problem we have is that whereas before the site appeared in Google, the new version of the site doesn't (as yet).

Could any of you SEO gurus take a quick gander at the website and see if there are any glaring omissions that could be causing this? Our client is getting rather anxious that he is not appearing in Google. We told him there were no guarantees but we don't like not getting results.  Read Replies

With the DMOZ being so hard to get into and its PR decreasing what directories does Google like? I always have trouble finding good directories, can anyone make any suggestions for furniture and home decor directories? Thanks!
