Hello,
I learned white hat
SEO in 2001. It was a tedious rode at first to say the least with all the scams out there. The first complete website that I built and submitted to Google achieved a top ten ranking for the search phrase “midnight madness “ . It was for a local cover band that goes by that name. I never realized how many ”midnight madness sales” existed until then. For 1 year I kept there site
in the top 10 Google rankings under a dozen other search phrases, as well as their most desired phrase mentioned above. The band split and the site was deleted in 2004.
Since then I have taken only one
SEO job. I live in the middle of a giant corn field and that kind of work locally does not exist. So I tried to contract work over the internet one time. The guy that hired me, never did pay the second half of my minimal fee of $250. His website to this day, maintains a #1 - #3 ranking for his 3 most desired search phrases on Google. I really just wanted to see if I could do it again so I did not pursue my $125 through the legal system. A retainer of $500 or more for any lawyer just didn’t seem like a sound business plan to say the least.
I am currently out of work and am thinking about giving it another go. I know there has to be some honest people out there that would greatly appreciate a good Google ranking. To trust or not to trust, that is the question. Any advise from the real SEOers out there would be greatly appreciated. When I say real SEOers, I mean the ones that have achieved top ten rankings for more than one website and know the amount of time and work that is necessary to achieve these kind of results. Whether you are charging $1 or $1000/ hour, if you don’t get paid the struggle means nothing.
Thanx, James Allen
