Default Web Designers Needed

We need freelance web designers to work by the job. We pay $250 for a basic 3 or 4 page HTML site, $350 if it includes some embedded Flash, and $1,000 if it includes a shopping cart or data base. You can see the type of quality we expect by looking at our portfolio, which we place at the top of our index page www.websiteshouston.com

We pay via bank wire in US dollars, the same day the job is complete. We do not advance funds prior to work being completed.

If you are good, we can keep you very busy. Please email jacob.wissler@gmail.com

Default $2,000 per month

I forget to mention that the average freelancer working for us makes over $2,000 USD per month, and I have the bank wires to prove it. Full details on what we need and what we pay are located at www.websiteshouston.com/employment.htm

Default New Prices

Updated pay plan:

$300 Basic HTML site 3-5 pages of text with photoshop image at the top
$500 Basic HTML site with embedded Flash on index page
$750 Larger HTML site with embedded Flash on the index page
$750 Small eCommerce site with PayPal
$1,000 and up - eCommerce site with data base. One site on our portfolio has 900 pages. This could include some very large jobs, for which we would negotiate a fee, and pay every few weeks, as the work is being done. On small jobs, we pay when the job is complete.
$600 Flash site built from template
$1,500 and up - Custom built Flash website.

We pay several web designers in India and South Africa well over $2,000 per month each. Our program is working and we need to expand our work force to keep up with new orders. We advertise heavily in Houston, Texas, on the NBC affiliate.

For examples of the quality we expect see our portfolio on the top of our index page www.websiteshouston.com

We are a web design firm in Houston, Texas, looking to hire web designers in India, South Africa and China.
JacobWissler,

I would think that you could find plenty of good American web designers here in America who are out of work at the very good prices you pay for work without having to hire web designers in India, South Africa and China.

Default It Would Be Nice

It would be nice if I could find web designers in Houston, but I have run local ads, and have interviewed local people - those with a portfolio of proven work want 3 times what I pay. I simply can not afford to hire local talent when web designers in the third world will do the same job (or better) for 1/3 the price of Houston workers.

Any business would rather have local workers because of the control factor, I could see what they are doing, and how much they are working. It is very difficult managing people 9,000 miles away, but it is the only way I have found to get the sites produced at a price that allows for a reasonable profit.

In this competitive market, I can sell a 4 page HTML site with embedded Flash on the index page for no more than $1,000 to $1,500. I pay $5,000 per month for advertising http://www.click2houston.com/news/index.html and $900 for office space, so the absolute most I can pay the web designer is 30% to 50% of gross, about $500 per site.

The highly talented local people I have interviewed want $1,000 to $1,500 per site, which is the full retail price. If they are top talent and if they work from home, and sell to the public, they can get retail pricing for their sites, so why should they sell to me for less? Those with less talent call me for jobs every day, but I can not sell their work.

The bottom line is, if you are good, and if you live here, you can sell direct to the public. The only web designers who are going to sell to me are those who have a geographic problem, they are too far away to sell to the public.

Most of the web designers I hire in India, South Africa and China have tried doing business with the American public, but few Americans want to risk sending funds to the other side of the world, even via Paypal, so if you live in China, it is easier to deal with me. I have banking arrangements in 17 nations and can get people paid fast. I also have a large amount of work, more than they could ever complete.

It is a win-win situation for everyone.

Hi, JacobWissler,

I notice that you seem to be really heavy into Flash. I would think most purchasers of your services could really care little about Flash.

Why is Flash so necessary?

Thank you.

Default Supply and Demand

I sell what the public wants. Take a look at some of the Houston competition:

http://www.4guys.com/

http://www.jerichotechnology.com/

I can't compete against that by offering a plain HTML text page.

Depends what you mean by compete. You should be able to rank much better in MSN and Yahoo without any problem. That's "compete" in one sense of the word. You could easily use that example to show why the other companies aren't too smart and why you should get the busines.

Brian.

Default Embedded Flash

That is why we sell embedded Flash on an HTML page, it gives a great look, and can still be optimized. For example www.rapturepools.com The water in the pool moves. That was done in Flash, over the 4th of July weekend. In a few months, I will have that site ranked in the top 3 for pools in Houston (it is an established domain that had a prior site, so there will be no sandbox).

Also look at www.houstondiet.com Same thing. The water moves. You will notice on our portfolio, almost every site uses Flash embedded on an HTML page.

Hi, JacobWissler,

Not many potential customers on dialup are going to stay around waiting for jericotechnology.com's extraordinarily bloated home page to load up, IMHO.

4guys.com does not impress me at all.

Both of these bloated sites would require a T1 line to load up in a reasonable amount of time.

I suppose one could say that I subscribe to a Minimalist Philosophy of Web Design.

Default Excellent Web Designer with poor sales skills needs work . .

I am talented at Web Design and SEO/M . I am very UNtalented at sales.
I'm happy with your wages AND I'm a citizen (Florida).

Could I get some work please?

At least a try?

I'm sure you have lots of resumes to go over and your probably busy. But remember Texx Smith it's not my real name, but a pseudonym. Search my real name and you'll see why I use a pseudonym. Just remember Texx Smith!

Default Thanks everyone

Thanks to this forum, we have had more applications than I know what to do with, and yes I have started giving work to American web designers. I do not care where a person is, if they will accept what I pay.

For those we did not hire, I will keep your information for future reference. I am very loyal to the people I have, so I can't take on an infinite number of contractors.

Last week we had a huge backlog of websites waiting to be done. Thanks to this forum, we will be caught up within 30 days. This answered our prayers.
