Default Does it help serps to relist products that are aging?

I have products that are 2-3 and sometimes 4 years old that are perennial sellers. Does relisting them to freshen up the listing do any good? After a while some listings start to slip or is it just better to add backlinks to them and leave the listing alone??

It won't do anything if you resubmit a URL. Keep building backlinks and keep your content fresh. Make sure to be constantly updating your home page so google will think it is not dead.

Yes I agree that there is no need to relist the product. You just need to build more backlinks. Over time those products got bumped back as it lost some links and other sites built more links. Add some more internal links to those products. Or build some external links doing something like submitting articles or social bookmarking.

What you can do instead of re-listing (which I'm not 100% sure I understand what you mean), is to just update the page with some fresh content. Maybe reword the headline. Try new pictures.

Ideally you want some new aspect that the readers will find valuable.

I've seen pages with nothing more than an automatic date stamp inserted into posts stay in a competitive spot for years, with no other changes.... and they weren't even in that business anymore!

Small changes, but make it visitor valuable, and google will see you've made changes eventually. Go to a social bookmark site and enter your page their for it to get crawled again quickly.

You should add new products instead of re-listing old ones. New products will surly help you.
