Does it make sense from a SEO point of view to redirect a site to the same domain name but with the extension mx when a visitor from Mexico visits the original site?

In the end, regardless of the 'SEO benefits', it might be better to simply let users select their region, just in case they happen to be travelling in other parts of the world but need to access the main site.
