How can we find high quality and high PR relevant topics to our sites for backlinks free. Here are some effective ways:

1) type: addurl + "target keyword"
2) Forums in edu and gov sites as these sites are normally high PR. USe the same methods above to search out for forums to join and then leave your signatures. Of course, I have many innovative ideas on getting high quality links as well as high PR one way links........but I share the next time....

To make it clear, you only need to find backlinks that is relevant to your site e,g your site is about travel, find sites about travel, resorts, accomodation,recreation, transportation.....and also ensure that the webpage that linked to you are high PR or at least 1, with great and continous updated content. Don't worry musch about the PR of the sites but concentrate on relevancy which is consider high quality.

Many forum owners and blog owners now place NOFOLLOW on all outbound links which essentially blocks the spiders from indexing and following that link. Hence, will do nothing for your search engine rankings.

I have a question on back links. It has come to my attention that a porn site has put a link to my site without my knowledge. I don't like the implications and am concerned about repercussions. Do I have any legal recourse? Is it illegal to one way link? Do you need permission? If people like porn, that's their business. I personally do not. I am afraid of guilt by association. HELP!
On another issue about linking. I submitted to a lot of free directories starting out. I submitted to a web ring recently which was very relevant to my products and got an E-mail informing me I wasn't accepted because I had links on my site to these directories and some had listings for multi level marketing, weight loss and adult sites. Are they just being puritanical? I didn't look at all the links in their directories. Who does? Should I? Is this just one puritanical person or will I lose standing listing in such directories?

Unfortunately your question is unanswerable because of many other variables. The value of an inbound link is difficult to determine. And obviously each search engine values it differently. All else being equal, I'd take 10 backlinks from 10 domains. But all else is never equal. So I'd rather have 100 backlinks from 100 domains

yes vivmarshall is correct, you have to choose the perfect category otherwise you are just wasting your time doing directory submissions.

If you want your site to be index by google fast, try social bookmarking but choose sites that are nofollow so that google will count this as a backlinks

Forgive a daft question from a newbie Niche, but with blog commenting is it necessary to leave the URL in the post and if so isn't that rather an obvious form of spamming?

I use Blogspot and when I post on a blog it leaves a link to my Profile, which in turn directs any visitors to my blogs. Have I got it right or am I missing a trick?

There's no "trick" about it.

Try and contribute. Try and share something you consider "valuable, helpful, and/or interesting" because you want to and are "interested" when you are able.

There are places I contribute and don't leave a link. I enjoy the topic/discussion and "getting a link" isn't why I participate.

People will look for you, find you, suggest you, follow you, and yes, link to you, if they like what they read and see.

And yes, folks who are simply commenting to comment, posting to post, are relatively easy to spot.
