I have been listening to a number of your podcasts.

In one of your episodes you mentioned that people often go crazy trying to get backlinks and often get backlinks from crap sites (I think you were talking about link exchange networks, it was in the episode when you were saying how bad the design of that pink site was).

I have been doing this stuff for 3 years now and have learned a lot over this period. For my newest project I have been submitting to directories, commenting on do-follow blogs and posting on forums with my signature link. Is this good or bad? Will these blog comments put my sites link in crap places? (most of them are unrelated to my site)

Also, what do you think of this guide:

I am mainly trying to increase SERPS because starting in November, I will be posting 4-5 articles per day about sites topic. Do you think I should follow that guide?
