Go to Yahoo.com and do a search on "electrical discharge machining." The first site in "natural placement" should be www.bdmachine.com/electrical-discharge.html. Now, click on the "cached" word and look at the bottom of the cached page where it says "Ad by Google." What is this all about? How do we get into this program?

You're saying that BD Machine is part of the Google AdSense program, that's why that "Ads by Google" is on this page of their site?
I thought Google AdSense was for Web site publishers like Wall Street Journal, or other sites that have quite a bit of traffic - not for a lowly machine shop site. So this 1-page site holds the top position in several search phrases used at Yahoo only because it is part of the AdSense program? The only other links on this page are to two other sites totally unrelated - AdSense ads. This is some kind of spamming, isn't it? If all I have to do is sign up all of my clients for the AdSense program to get their site to come up in the number one positions, I'm signing on! |

Here's why I think the AdSense program is boosting B&D Machine Shop rankings:
I have been looking up some keyword phrases for some of my machine shop clients - clients that have 8 pages or more of good, solid content. On every keyword phrase I entered, including "CNC machining" this site came up in at least one of the the top 3 positions and sometimes in positions 1 and 2. Now, there isn't enough content on those 3 pages (a home page, a facility page and a contact page) to have more content than many other larger machine shops. So what's the answer if not AdSense? PS: Some of my clients have the Site Match program, some do not - but they are all listed in Inktomi. But his site beats them all in ranking at Yahoo. |

I clapped my hands and the phone just rang. My clapping the hands did not cause the phone to ring....there is a difference between causation and correlation .... the Adsense are not responsible for their high listing in Yahoo.
The site has >150 pages that redirect back to the home page. Google has wised up to it, Yahoo has not. CBP |

Yes, I just ran those keyword phrases again and, sure enough, there are URLs coming up that don't actually appear at the site. So there is some kind of spamming going on here and Yahoo has not yet caught it.
FYI, the terms I searched on were "medical device machining," "cnc machining," "aerospace machining" and "elecrical discharge machining" - all very competitive phrases so I was taken aback that such a tiny site could hold such a prominent position on all of those phrases. Thank you for point outing the 150 page redirects. Hopefully Yahoo will catch on soon. |
