Linking from a cleary Canadian site to a site in the UK

I've never really thought about this but if I link out from a clearly Canadian site to a semi related site in the UK (.co.uk) would that negatively affect my rankings or trust in the search engines?

From my immediate perspective it doesn't seem like the best idea. There is somewhat of a value that could be provided to my users in the sense that they could purchase goods from the UK site but how is this value determine or would it be and if not then what's the possible results (besides the obvious).

I'd rather play it on the safe side in the end and if anyone has a perspective it would be greatly appreciated.

If it were me making this decison.

As long as the site I was linking to was a good solid site I would link to it without a second thought.
The UK location would not worry me.
The content of the site would be the deciding factor.

I believe that the links coming from UK or Canada is okay just as long as they are the quality ones of the same niche.

Links are links, for as long as they're not into a bad neighborhood sites or link farms, I think it will be okay.

It didn't matter, but if you are targeting a certain market place be sure to link on the right site.
