Yesterday, I couldn't sleep thinking about the new Google algorithm.
Seems to me, like this new algo is giving priority to Title Tags, keywords frequency in contnet and relevant links. But, if you have a lot of links not related to your site content, they may even penalised you for that, even if you are not linking back to them. I think so, just because of my own experiences with the sites I administer. We were top ten for several sites, but a month ago, again we dropped. Unfortunately, my boss exchanged links with other sites (similar to link farms). I toke out those links but the other sites are still linking to us... Please, share with me how do you think Google and Yahoo! new algo's work. THANK YOU!!! |

There are over 100 factors in Google which have an impact on SERPs. The three you mention are one of the most important (along with e.g. anchor text of links).
Regarding inbound links - they can't do any harm to you.

It's true. There's a lot of factors involved. I had seen the other sites which are now top ten for some of my main keywords for example: "heart rate monitors".
For keyword density we're doing even better than the sites ranked in top ten and we have PR6 even higher than the other sites. We also try to design user friendly websites...but still I haven't figure it out why we have been disspear... Is there anyway to find out if we have been penalized? I don't practice blackhat SEO techniques...but I want to make sure that everything is ok. Thank you again, Have a good one! |

xjones: Yahoo appears to place greater emphasis than Google on the anchor text of incoming links and on the on-page optimisation (eg high keyword density gets you further in Yahoo than Google). Older sites also *seem* to be doing better in Yahoo than Google. Google seem to be a lot more sophisticated in its link analysis and looking for poorer "signals of quality" as part of this. CBP |
