Ok, so a few of us got together and decided we wanted conversations and debates with other professional SEO's, but we did not want all the 'me too' posts that go with it. The nice admins here at WPW just happened to have a means to do exactly this, in the form of Social Groups.

If you are an active SEO, and do not have a track record of 'me too' or other stupid posts, please feel free to PM me for an invitation to the SEO Professionals social group. Or just ask here in this thread even if you like.

Would other members be able to read your debates? I'm very much an amateur but would like to learn, even if I can't participate. Been reading your guys and gals other debates here and learning quite a bit.

William will be better able to answer this, but as I understand it, no, non members will not be able to read what is posted.. The reason being is that there are more open discussions about client / personal sites, and higher level tactics that run a significant risk of blowing up a site if not done exactly right..

We wouldn't want a beginner to read something and try it only to totally screw their site because they didn't fully understand the issues surrounding the tactic, and quite honestly, I doubt any one would want to take the time to answer the PMs or public threads that get started because of something that we wrote in 'private'..

We haven't come flat out and declared the social group a non-disclosure area, we already have places for that, but I view it as something in between open public discussions and non-disclosure..

The group also includes some level of mutual thrust as some not-for-public info about our and our client's sites get posted so the idea of group discussions being visible publicly might not be a very good thing.

Exactly. There is already one such discussion/project that falls under this category in progress. This is also the reason acceptances are being limited to mainly professionals with track records.

The group won't be publishing a blog or public versions of its discussions, tho some aspects 'may' come out in a public thread at some points down the road when it is deemed that the result will be helping the general public without worry of hurting them.

The group is already going well with 12 current members, 8 others who have not yet accepted their invitations in their UserCP, 12 discussions, and 163 messages.

One other thing I might add is that I, and I would assume others, will be using this group as a collaborative testbed for new things. In other words, tests that are done to find new factors, or prove probable factors exist, will be published and dissected by other group members, giving everyone the chance to see results firsthand, and also lending more credibility to the tests results.

Thanks for starting a group of SEO professionals. I am definitely interested to join your group. I hope this would be good platform to share knowledge and to learn new practices. SEO practices are unlimited and we can't be master of this field, so we continuously need to refine our knowledge. Every site needs <snip> here in this group we would be able to guide others. At the later stage, we can also start our own forum to extend the advantages of this talent hub to the web owners.

These posts and others like them that you have posted were not found to show that you are actually an SEO Professional in the same regard as the membership allows for. They are on very basic elements of SEO which an SEO should already know without having to ask. I did put it to a vote however, and that resulted in 4 immediate No votes.

Please do not let this discourage you. Keep learning and apply at a later date.

There are really no set limits or anything.

Basically it is a group for SEO's. Meaning people who do it for a living OR we have allowed certain exceptions when the person is extremely well versed even if he is not a professional per se.

We look at both their record of posts on here, content not count, and the fact that they are indeed actual SEO's.

All candidates are voted on by existing membership.

I think newcomers must be a little "tested" before join this group because the they have not sufficient experience to say something in the discutions. They must learn a different period of time and after that to be cappable to post in the forum.
