There could be lots of reasons for this. Are you referring to the website in your signature?
The website is currently down. Perhaps it was down last time spider was around and some pages are dropped from index. Also, you might have lost some valuable links you use to have so the importance of your page decreased causing it to have less pages indexed... |

When I clicked on any of the "Click for more" links on your front page, I got a "Oooops, resource unavailable" page. Refreshing that url gave me a DB error screen. Don't blame google for your websites issues.

This can be a small change in Google algo. Matt Cutts in a recent post mentioned that crawl rate is directly depended on PR. The more PR a site have, the better will its crawl rate. And I think crawl rate is directly related to indexing of pages.

Thanks all for the clue.... there are thousands of internal pages. Do I have to get links for all those pages? If so, how should I go ahead?
I've heard that making regular modification on the pages can help SEs to identify the updates. I'm trying to put some few content and rss feeds on the pages, and cross linking. Will it help? |

"This can be a small change in Google algo. Matt Cutts in a recent post mentioned that crawl rate is directly depended on PR. The more PR a site have, the better will its crawl rate. And I think crawl rate is directly related to indexing of pages. " is that true. what you mean is that if you have higher pr. then you will have more pages indexed. i have the same problem with my site. so according to what you said. i just get my pr higher. the mehods would be getting more backlinks. is that right?

As people mentioned, your links aren't leading to places. "Oops, resource unavailable" and other kinds of error messages. That's certainly the beginning of your issues.
Secondly, with 4,500 pages.. I have doubts to how much unique content is on all of those pages. |

Thnx to all. I think for a website which displays listings, its very hard to improve/increase unique content. I heard that revamping the old pages with new design, internal linking may help in getting those pages indexed.

If there are broken pages than that's on you. What it could also be is an ONpage SEO issue where your pages have similar/same meta data which the SE's think could be the same page so it doesn't index it. Unique meta data and more backlinks should help you get indexed properly.

Try to get backlinks even for the internal pages. After the updation, submit sitemap. Hope that will solve all your problems.

sandhipan... As has been pointed out, repeatedly, your site is broken.
Links do not work. Until you fix that nothing else you do will matter. Noone, including SE's, can get to your pages. Dave |

While we may not wish for the index to look like a table of contents, pointing only at the start page of each chapter, we cannot expect it to index every paragraph in the book. Landing pages, definitely. Product highlight pages, for sure. Articles and reference pages, sure. Product pages, directly, maybe.
The key pages on your site may have extra links, applets, widgets and media that individual product pages don't have. While deeper content may lack the punch to get the close, the key pages, with branches to part or all of the product line, may just do the trick. IMHO it is not how many pages are indexed, it's how many are going for the close. These are the ones to focus on. The rest don't matter as long as your navigation and search can get to them.
