Default Interesting "keywords" in file names at Google

Needing a distraction from hours in front of my Trinitron... I bop over to Google and do a search for:

wedding planning advice and then narrow it to wedding planning relationship advice - not because I need any (that's another story)... but because of the RESULTS it returned.

Google is highlighting the words I'm searching for in the sites/SERP it returns. Is this something new (me thinks so...).

The top SERP had the keyword/s in the domain, title tag, or the page file name and on the pages, of course.

Or are my eyes just getting weird.

;)

Yes, Google have just recently started highlighting the searched for words when they are in the domain name. Dosen't mean the site ranks any higher because of this.

If memory serves me correct, Mel picked up on this a while back when we first had some screen shots when Google were testing the new interface.

This isn't anything new but in my experience google puts a lot of weight in the title and the ordering of the keywords in the title. possibly the same weight to the domain name.

Look at sites like sportscards.com that were number one for sportscards when they had nothing but a one page site with a logo on the home page and weren't even open for business.

They got some great pre-launch advertising.
