I've just come across a strange situation where there is an index.htm AND an index.cfm in the root directory. Can anyone tell me :
a) How does a spider handle this when all the links/submissions refer to the domain url (www.domain.com)? What file does it choose? b) If I want to index/link the .cfm page does this create more problems? |

For the crwalers point of view these are just two diffirent files. The file that is choosen if you go to www.domainname.com depends purely on how the webserver has been configured (it's 'default' document) it is not a decision by the spider. No problem also having the .cfm file linked from somewhere.. again.. the spider just sees this as any other file.
