Default URL Structure

Hi all,

I'm working on some product listing & product detail pages for websites.

In this instance lets assume its a shop. In this shop I have multiple listings and multiple products. I list product A within multiple categories

/{keyword}-shop/{searchkeyword1}/{searchkeyword2}/{searchkeyword3}/
/{keyword}-shop/{searchkeyword4}/

So I would be able to view the product A here:

/{keyword}-shop/{searchkeyword1}/
/{keyword}-shop/{searchkeyword1}/{searchkeyword2}/
/{keyword}-shop/{searchkeyword1}/{searchkeyword2}/{searchkeyword3}/
/{keyword}-shop/{searchkeyword4}/

I'd normally look to list product A within a sub of the path to it i.e.
/{keyword}-shop/{searchkeyword4}/{productA}/
or
/{keyword}-shop/{searchkeyword1}/{searchkeyword2}/{searchkeyword3}/{productA}/

However, there are multiple routes to the product so would I default one so as to provide the product with the one URL or would I create a folder just for all product details i.e.
/{keyword}-products/{productA}/

To me I tend to work on the SEO approach of... if it makes sense from a users perspective it'll work the best in the long run with SEs.

So from my point of view if I'm drilling down to a file I would expect it to exist within my current directory structure. But that does make it
a) a longer url (good or bad thing from keyword perspective?)
b) product may live under different directory to the one I'm drilling down from.

NOTE: in the above case productA may have keywords in it that exist in the folder structure.

So my questions are should I
A) Have a product folder
B) Default to one path within a listing
C) Allow multiple URLs for users for the 1 product but 301 for SE
D) Someting else?

Hope the above makes sense? And I'd appreciate any advise.
Cheers,

Richard

Default Re: URL Structure

I'm not very good at this: but what I do see in your description is that you're only using one word to search, when there are many words pretaining to that one word "shop' broaden your words
