Default Okay, you are buying a car...

from me, and this car is a very popular commuter car, but there are only to be 20 made. You will pay full list price, but your chances of actually having the car delivered is less than one in a thousand.

You can increase your chances of receiving a car by redecorating your garage, and the one with the most attractive garage will win the contest and get the car he paid for, but no promises. It's entirely up to you, and if you don't get a car, it's your fault because your garage is obviously not of the quality I strive for.

I will not tell you what makes one garage more appealing to me than another. And my personal tastes are changing by the hour as I "find myself".

Your car will be taken away from you the second I find another garage more appealing. No refunds.

And just so you know, you are in direct competition for these cars by multimillion dollar international corporations with teams of expert garage decorators on their payroll.

In addition, you will be charged .30 a mile, which you will pay in advance for. If you can't get there at .30 a mile, you need to ante up more money. Once you run out of prepaid mileage, your car will immediately vanish from your garage.

And you will be paying $50 for the priviledge of paying us for the opportunity.

But you also have a chance for a car for free, and while paying out the nose does not guarantee you will receive one (all insinuations to the contrary aside), you will get the benefit of having a mechanic come out once a week to inspect your empty garage for you.

Example over.

Sound stupid? I think so. But I have to wonder if this is really the way it is. Am I missing something here?

In case you need a little help in this example, the "I" speaking is Yahoo, the "garage" is one of the top 20 positions on the first page of results, and the "car" is your website.

Now with all this said, can anyone explain to me WHY I should enter my sites into Yahoo's program? I would really like to know, and any feedback you can give me is greatly appreciated. I had alot of sites that were in the old Inktomi program, and I just don't see any benefits to footing the expense of renewing.

ps - I did post this at one other webmaster forum. You are not seeing double.
