Question The Site Which Is Having 2-home Pages

Hi Members,

I got a very basic and a simple doubt regarding - "THE SITE WHICH IS HAVING 2-HOME PAGES"

Now here is the situation,

I have a website which has 2 - home pages, one is Example.Com and the other is Example.com/home.html and due to some reasons the .html page is redirecting to .com page using a 301 redirect.

Now the question is,

IS IT SENSIBLE THING TO PUT .COM/HOME.HTML PAGE IN THE GOOGLE SITEMAP FOR THE WEBSITE, AS I ALREADY HAVE THE .COM PAGE IN THE XML SITEMAP.

Hope this is not confusing.

Please do suggest.

Thanks in advance.

I am a bit confused. You mean that at example.com/ you have an index.html, or index.php or such, AND in the same directory you have home.html?

If your server is set up properly, a direct access to example.com/home.html should not redirect to example.com/index.html unless there is something (such as member login script) on the home.html page to cause it.

I hope I am clear this time, thing is there are 2-pages,

www.tushapant.com and www.tusharpant.com/home.aspx

now the situation is,

www.tusharpant.com/home.aspx is redirecting to www.tusharpant.com/ using 301 redirect.

and the question is,

Should I create the Google sitemap, taking both the URL's as Home page?

OR

Should I leave the www.tusharpant.com/home.aspx in the Google XML Sitemap as it's already redirecting to the main page?

Thanks!

Well, since both of those are now giving a 404 error, I guess you have taken things into control.

The problem as I see it is that you had 2 files in the main directory. One called "index.htm or .html or .php or waterver but it was called "index" . and another one called home.aspx or. htm or .thml or what the heck ever but it was called "home".

The seb server defaults to a page that has a name of "index" not "home". Also, if your server is not set up to interpret ASP, it will redirect to the "index.html" or "index.htm" or "index.php" or "index.what the heck ever".

Starting to get the picture here? Stgep one for you would be to get a good book on HTML and web design, read it, practice using it, then go about developing a site.
