Default HTML Validation

Hi Everyone,

I did a HTML validation check on my sites and found many errors. I use a builder template and the company says that this is no big deal and does not affect my SEO. Is this true?

Thnkas,

Please will you give the address of a typical page so that I can validate and see what sorts of errors are being reported.

Without even seeing your website, I can tell you that unless your site validates, you are in serious trouble.

Thumbs up Re: HTML Validation

HTML Validation is not the only factor considered for the penalty of your website.

There are point where you cannot validate the entire content of your website, and still the site ranks well.

But it is better to always consider the HTML Validation for your website. Just provide the URL if you can.

Thanks!

My opinion...

If your users can read the page, Google and other search engines will also be able to read it.

SEO is a little different, it covers a multitude of different aspects. How far you wish to go as far as SEO is concerned is a matter of personal choice. there are a few WPW members that consider it a sin to have even a minor error.

Personally I think that If the reader can read understand the pages and follow links successfully you are basically O.K because the search engines can find whatever the site user can find. That covers most of your needs..

More details of the site would have been nice, nobody reading this thread has been given the faintest clue about the possible problems your site might have. Be more upfront. . .

Thnkas,
Like already said, if your readers can read your site and follow the links then the search engines can also. That does not mean to ignore validation though! The fewer HTML validation errors on your site the better.

I recently developed a site for a used car dealer in my town. His old site had virtually no presence on the search engine results and he was unable to gain access to the source code to make changes. The site I developed almost immediately gained a huge presence on SERP but had many HTML errors. Those have been corrected and the site continues to rise in SERP almost on a daily basis.

Are you kidding/joking? Whether you site validates or not does not have that big if any effect (currently) in Google.

Check out this video by Matt Cutt (Google employing) saying exactly that, Matt Cutts on W3C and valid HTML code on Vimeo.
