Back links are back bone of SEO. But only quality links are helpful and most important.

Solution : Add a redirect 301 redirect from your old domain and point it towards new domain. You can also do 301 redirect of important pages towards new location.

This will help search engines to understand that website has moved to other location.

Also you should try to make some changes in the back links and try to point them towards new domain.

This will help you retain your website traffic as well as SEO traffic.

The best option is redirecting people to the new domain.

Backlinks are very important for SEO. If you get more links pointing to the new domain than the old, your new one may start to be preferred by the engines, but this could take years, and it's not a given that it will actually work that way.
