Default .edu or .gov backlinks

Many people believe that a backlink from .edu or .gov sites helps a lot to increase your site rank. I too believed the same.

Well, Googlers Matt Cutts and Maile Ohye have the following to say when asked:

Question: Is there PageRank boost from .edu or .gov links?

Google’s Answer: You don't get any PageRank boost from having an .edu link or .gov link automatically. If you get an .edu link and no one is linking to that .edu page, you're not going to get any PageRank at all because that .edu page doesn't have any PageRank.

BUT if it's the other way around, that .edu or .gov links will give you a PageRank boost.

It doesn't really matter that much to me whether its a .com or a .edu or a .gov when I am building links, what matters for me is the relevancy of the site to mine and the quality of that site and its content.

Not all .edu sites are necessarily authority sites. Just to avoid any misunderstandings.

just went out to browse some .edu and .gov sites, not for advertising or any but I was sort of finding something that is concerned with such .edu and .gov and noticed that most of them are spammed by porn sites through guestbooks and comments

You mean the one on the page that isn't in the index?

Seriously, nice job, it probably does deliver some traffic..

It is indexed by Yahoo. I never try to find out why it is not indexed by Google yet.

Dear member,

welcome at WebProWorld Forums.

Please try and contribute more to this forum through your posting and topic replies.

Posts such as you have posted above ...

"tankyou for this post "

... do not constitute as contributory or productive. When forum members receive a topic reply notification they expect to return to the thread and find a constructive response to their post. It is highly frustrating when posters do not offer anything to the discussion and it is a waste of forum members (often very precious) time.

These type of one line replies are expectable if you contribute well in other areas of the forum but not when they constitute your only input.

If you intention is to drop links or spammed advertisements, or you trying to attract attention of the members here to click on the link in your signature, you have chosen the wrong place for that.

Take care and best regards,

John

yes, but the question would then be, would those traffic convert into earnings?

what is the other way to get a page rank boost that Googlers Matt Cutts said you cannot get any value to boost page rank. that's means you can only waste of time getting backlinks for page rank boost. but if the other way you can do it to boost your page rank with .edu or .gov. what is they other way?
