Tried everything and cant move above smaller competitors on google searches!

Hello,

I am one of the directors of Work Rest And Play Plus Sized Clothing - Sizes 12-36

We have been operating for a few months and we have tried everything to move up the google searches with little success. Our site uses Wordpress, we have an XML Sitemap that is supposedly google friendly and an SEO tool.

Recently for example, a competitor of ours has come onto the market who has a similar looking website. Maybe it looks a little bit nicer but it certainly has significantly less content on it.

We cannot understand how they are moving up the searches daily and we are never moving anywhere and if we do move, it is down.

I have done a backlinks check and they have no backlinks. They havent been open for as long as us from the looks of it and it doesnt make any sense at all. they dont use google adds, they dont advertise their site anywhere that i can see.

Can somebody please help us understand what we can do about this and if anybody knows any reasons for it, it would be hugely appreciated.

Even a search for 'plus sized clothing' they come up higher than us and that is the name of our website!

Any advice would be so appreciated.

firstly, i wouldn't link to your competitor from here.

what google searches are you talking about in particular? what terms are you targeting?

Anything related to plus size clothing.

for example:

plus size clothing
plus sized clothing
plus size
larger clothing
plus size womens clothing

anything to do with plus size clothing, they are coming up a lot higher than us. So are a lot of other websites that sell similar products but we have a bigger range than most, lots of descriptions using keywords, lots of posts etc.

Do you have any idea why? I have exhausted everything I can think to try.
