Default Duplicate content - what's the deal?

I'm considering setting up a separate website, with a semantic domain name, to specifically promote one of our services. Is there a duplicate content issue? Is it ethical / within guidelines / worthwhile?

By way of an example check these sites - same company:

marketingperth.com
luminosity.com.au

Look forward to some expert opinions.

There's no duplicate content there.. Duplicate contents literally means a part or the whole content is duplicate in the other website. But as I check , the two websites are indeed the same company but doesn't have the same content. As search engines don't recognize images and flash, different websites can have the same template but not the same content.

Also agree. Duplicate content is more than that...

Also - I believe there are many misconceptions about duplicate content around. Google still counts them (unless is a MASSIVE dup - which will be banned). But original content certainly carries more weight for Search Engine Optimization... IMHO..

Thanks so far, I'm understanding more now.

That said, I've just been reading about doorway pages and it occurs to me the example given may be an example of this practice since most links from the marketingperth.com site actually direct users to luminosity.com.au

That was also my idea but wouldn't this be risky / contrary to guidelines?

Exclamation Re: Duplicate content - what's the deal?

I read in the best selling ebook The Google Snatch that Google doesn't like sites that use the same template.
