Question Google Vs. Yahoo (?!)

I have recently been noticing that far more Visitors are getting to my site through Google as compared to Yahoo.

Can someone explain the differences in algorithms that may cause this?

Is there some reason that Yahoo may be indexing my site poorly?

I have submitted both sitemaps using site explorers and google webmaster tools.

Please Advise!

Thanks So Much,

Steve

Yahoo and Google makes use of almost the same factors in their algo. But as to the weight they give to each factor, only they would know that for sure. IMO, yahoo tends to give more weight on the onpage factor as compared to Google.

Most people search via Google rather than Yahoo, so you will see more traffic from Google. This is the case for pretty much all websites. Around 80% of my search traffic comes via Google. Its perfectly normal so I wouldn't worry about it.

Usually when you rank well on G..then Y will follow..on the algo, difference is G gives more weight/importance on the quality while Y onpage factor still matters but algo updates on Y seems that they have changes..one is they are now looking on sites that links to authority sites..

My impression is that
  1. Google place more weight on off page content, IBL's.
  2. Yahoo places more weight on on site content.

You are likely to get more traffic from Google because more people search using Google so statistically more people are likely to find your site

I was hoping there was a solution since the data is soooo skewed.

Yesterday I got 58 from google. 8 from Yahoo.

(Its a young site).

That's pretty normal. Google does 60% of searches in the USA I believe. If you´re outside the USA, that percentage is higher. Yahoo does like 15% of searches I think. It's a young site you said so Google probably has it better indexed than Yahoo. Those numbers are pretty much what you would expect.

Funny, I'm having almost the opposite - I rank much higher in Yahoo (dismally low in Google) yet I get very little traffic from there. Hmm..
