I know it would be really impossible to get a SEO Priority List because the various search engines give differant weight to differant factors and then they don't publish it.
However, has anyone put together a "best guess" of what is the most important to the least important just to use a guideline? Thank you! |

I'd start with this 10 Things to do before the Spiders come: most of them can be done relatively quickly.
Be sure to run your site through SiteReportCard: Web Site Optimization and Promotion Tools to check for broken links, and other problems. Then I'd get a sitemap made, Create your Google Sitemap Online - XML Sitemaps Generator put it on your website, with a reference to it in your robots.txt |

This is a great question for those starting out on a new or first SEO project. Here is my top ten list of SEO priorities.
10. The proper use of ALT tags 09. Use of H1 and H2 tags 08. Naming graphics and photos with site subject related names 07. Adding a site map that is linked from the index page 06. Using a blog or blogs to support your website as a source of one way inbound links. Blogs should be on a different server. Blogger and other free blog platforms are great for this. 05. Site wide internal text linking strategy 04. Adding fresh relevant content at a minimum 2 times a week, preferably 4-5 times a week 03. Choosing page related descriptions for the description meta tag and unique page related Page Titles 02. Select key search phrases and keywords. 01. Proper site structure planning. A wide shallow site with no page more than 3 clicks from home - Plan on paper before starting. An added priority is the long term step of patience. Hope this helps get you started.
