Default Speech recognition in search

Hi,

Speech recognition has been around for a while and there are some interesting developments such as Blinkx and the new Google/YouTube speech-to-text service. My question is, does anyone have any experience in the application and analysis of speech recognition in SEO and specifically how the body of textual output affects the discoverability of the video content it represents?

I'd be interested to know anyone's thoughts on subject,

Wotan.

Picking up the phrases the way you hear people is important, once you noted them you should mix into content covering all possible variations, however I don't think any software can do that very accurately.

My experience is tiny: an Ericsson mobile phone that you can talk to and it will call the person you mention by name, so this is definitely possible and may be a future trend. Think about the accessibility potential. Blind and other disabled people have as their home page a page with a search tool where it is possible to use your microphone and tell the software what (video) you are looking for.

My bolding. There is now a new element in your original post:
  • Speech recognition in search
  • Does anyone have any experience in the application and analysis of speech recognition in SEO?
Even if SEO is related to search that is another deeper question. You have mentioned some sites yourself. Try a relevant KW search. Personally I would also looked on sites (using the site operator) and forums for mobile phone companies, for Search engines and browser companies. You may find som input there, too.

Study what is mentioned above. IMO it is definitely a very interesting subject.

Thanks kgun,

The real question, and I guess it's been answered by the abscence of a response is whether anyone has actually improved SEO through the use of speech recognition on audio and video instead of using human created meta-data.

But you may have noted that Opera has voice tools that you may be aware of. I have never tried that tool. But software may now be able to render voice fairly accurate.
