Default SEO and Flash...

Could someone explain the negative aspects of flash on SEO?
If there are no issues with load time and the spiders can read text and links, is flash still a problem?

thanks

Well it is an issue because you essentially only have one page that can rank.

so if you have even a small amount of flash on a page, it prohibits the other pages from ranking?
do you know of any links where i might be able to read more and understand this?

no, no, no. If it is just s piece of Flash within a normal page then it should not effect SEO at all. If the whole website is in Flash then you may have some issues, but optimizing Flash is getting easier.

Using flash as a page element is not harmful unless it's so large it causes the spiders to timeout

just keep it as an element of the page keeping all navigation and text in HTML, PHP or otherwise

so when you say "on the navbar" you dont mean flash-based navigation?

if so that's bad. you'll need to also replicate the nav using HTML. if its just decoration, that's fine.

If you're not gonna use keywords in the navigational bar then I don't think you need html nav. In the first place it won't harm your site.
