Default Paid Database Use Options for Search Engine

Hey guys,

I'm looking at using google's database for my own search engine, does anyone know of a better, or more reasonably priced system?

Thanks,

Shane

I'm speaking of their Silver, Gold, and custom search engine systems. They charge on a per query above the alotted per year basis.

We are developing a 'new' search system for our 'niche' audience, but are smart enough to avoid recreating the wheel if possible.

Ok if I understand what you are getting at then you intend to use the google search appliance, or the the google site search on your site, which enables you to search your own site or intranet, and also have the capability of searching the web using Google.

Since Google will provide you with a free way to do this and they are one of the most advanced search engines out there, I can think of nothing cheaper or better, though there are lots of alternatives for free site search, just depends on what you want the system to do and for whom.
