Here's an odd predicament:
Say you want to have a page indexed but you don't necessarily want to give it any "link juice" from your other pages. So you nofollow the page on all internal links but you add the page to your XML sitemap. what happens? Does the page get indexed because it's on the XML sitemap? Or does the page get ignored because it's nofollowed from all other pages? Also, assume this page has no inbound links from other site. Any thoughts on how the SE's would handle that situation? Thx,

That is not correct. If you have a robots meta tag nofollow on the page, you will not pass juice to the pages your are linking to on the page.

Let me ask you now a question: If I link to one of your pages how can you prevent the juice being pass to that page?
