Default dofollow blog search

Whether you love 'em or hate 'em...

Here's a link to a dofollow blog search i created:

DoFollow Blog Search

Feel free to contribute by letting me know about blogs in the list that have added the nofollow tag back on (which quite a few of them have!) or if you find any new dofollow blogs.

Peace!

Not that I agree with 'maniplating' practices but that's very nice idea inertia.

I know what your saying about manipulating. I WAS hitting all the high PR dofollow blogs but decided to change my ways and just hit the relevant ones. Hence the search engine...

I'm in the process of adding more sites and checking the current ones but as you can imagine its very time consuming and I've got shed loads of other stuff to do. There may be nofollow sites there and if there is let me know and ill delete them but thats the best i can do for the time being.

Anyone know of an easy way to check for nofollows in bulk?

What do you mean with contributor? What is need/required, and which are the benefits?

I assume that means that you can delete sites as well.

I figure that plenty of contributors will improve the quality of the results. I know most people (including myself) are very busy so if everyone does a little it will amount to a lot and the results should be good for everyone.

I think that should be fairly easy if you use JS DOM / PHP.
  1. Scan the page and make an array of all the links in the document like this

    Code:

    var links_in_document = document.getElementsByTagName('a');
    or
  2. Scan the page and make an array of all the links in body like this

    Code:

    var links_in_body = body.getElementsByTagName('a');
  3. The rest is (sub)string manipulation. There are inbuild string manipulation functions to handle this in both JS and PHP.
  4. Take a short course in OOP at Lancaster University and you make a class that can be refined with the necessary methods and properties. The sky is the limit, especially as PHP 6.0 (PHP: News Archive - 2008) may soon be ready.

    SitePoint Blogs » Last we checked, PHP IS a framework.

    SitePoint Blogs » What won’t be in PHP 6

Cheers Kgun, rep added.

Admittedly the php coding is beyond me although ive spoken to our out of office developer, he's explained the process in "dumb ass" terms and reckons he can sort it out. The Lancaster uni course is a good idea and i WILL (when i get time in between the masses of copywriting) check it out.

The fact that many of the blogs have added the nofollow back to their site seams to be the only factor which is affecting the quality of this search engine (that and the low number of indexed sites, which i will work on over the coming weeks). If i can get rid of the nofollows then i will be very pleased with the result!

I also think the Google custom search presents an excellent and very easy opportunity for generating link bait.

What can you do with that program / class?
  1. Divide sites / domains in two sets. Those that know and those that do not know the rel="nofollow" property. This can indicate who may have a hidden agenda on link selling.
  2. Make your own meta search engine: http://www.surftoolbar.com/ : : Constructive feedback, please not on markup. You should be able to find the JS code and combine your API with my JS file that produces SERP's for different directories and SE's.
  3. Produce your own real search engine, (by using grid hosting and computing) and collect the links your Bot collects in a database. The same technique can of course be used to index and archieve other HTML elements on visited sites / pages.

    A file

    mySE.php

    May be all you need. You can make it Google suggest like by using AJAX technology. When you are on my new site, click

    Global links + CTRL + F + clustering 3 times

    Hire a student from the university to write a PHD thesis about the subject
