Default Yahoo/Overture to use DMOZ/ODP data

Quote:
Yahoo! leverages the Open Directory Project (ODP) to further improve the user experience on distribution partner sites. ODP title, description and category meta data is used to enhance Yahoo!'s relevant search results

Greg Boser of WebGuerilla:

“submit, move on, and forget about it.”

in regards to ODP (DMOZ).

One more strike against Yahoo!
DMOZ are noted for Fuzzy titles and descriptions which have to conform to antiquated rules.

No one in their right mind uses their URL or company name as a search term, but using the ODP title thats what you get.

Am I wearing sunglasses or is the shine from the new Yahoo starting to tarnish in only two weeks? Could it be that instead of a new gold search engine standard, Yahoo was only gold plated?

I search for company names all the time. So everyone who uses ODP is stupid, even professional companies that are profitable? Time to rethink that thinking.

Hmmm... maybe I am missing something kctipton but before you can search for a company name you have to know it so it seems to me you are not going to discover new sites that way. Or is this just in defense of the antiquated system in use at DMOZ?
