how to improve my ranking with a 0 budget

We run a non profit project One World - a global adventure.
Are there any easy quick ways to improve our ranking in search engeenes or any freeware we could use for it? Is anyone able to help?

Also we just added a new section for children and I would like to have this part reviewed - how do I go about it

I've found in life there are two ways of doing things.

1. With money

2. With time

Getting a site to rank with no money.

1. Add more pages

2. Write and submit press releases

3. Write and submit articles

4. Submit the site to the directories

5. Post on forums

I agree, this all helps with a limited budget. Just do everything yourself, if you have the time. If not you will need to have a budget set up

I was wondering also are there any things you do / have to consider when you design the website - eg are any designs, links and so on more search engeenes friendly, does it matter how you cross link to varios sections of your website.
I know it helps when other people link to you, does it also help if you link to others - do you know anything about it?

The design needs to be set up so it will convert the traffic. You want to link inside the site using your keywords in the anchor text.

Give me this weekend and I'll see what I can put together for you but the short answer is yes, it does matter.

If it was me here's what I would do.

1st

I would redesign the site. The site is boring. You need to get links to the site and the best way to do this is with a really cool design and some great text.

2nd

I would do some keyword research and come up with about 10,000 good keywords.

3rd

I would start writing some really good text and creating a landing page for each of the keywords you just created.

4th

I would start getting links from outside sources and link to each of the new pages I had just created.

Hmm, why do you think the site is boring, is it nt subjective anyway? Whaich ections have you checked? have you had a look at the tourism one or the teddy one Our World - a global adventure.

I thought keywords are not that important anymore and if you have too many earch engeenes may disqualify you - is it not right?

What do you maen by I would link to each of the new pages I created - how?

Can I see somewhere websites you created perhaps and learn from this?

I have some but not sure if you would be able to tell anything from them.

As said by others - time=money

If you have time but no money there are things you can do.

I would focus on redesigning your home page. The navigation is a bit tricky and the images look like they should be links. Your slogan text "join with us..." is hard to read in that font.

Try going for a more traditional style navigation bar maybe?

If your organization is a registered charity or non-profit, some of the best web directories provide free listings, yahoo!, for example. It really can be a breeze for non-profits to get listed, so definitely get working on that.

In addition, try to find similar websites and exchange links. Don't go crazy with link exchanges, but a few inbound and outbound links to some well established and respected sites can work wonders.

Create a resource page with links and snippets from articles and websites that users might find beneficial. Provide brief summaries of each article (in your own words).

Your site is in desperate need of relevant content. Do what you can to add a FAQ or online guide of some kind. Provide a solution to popular problem or concern that prospective users would find helpful and informative and that is based on a popular keyword search.

Join a well respected forum or web community that's related to your services and be sure to include a link to your site in your forum signature.

If you do money way i would prefer make sure first you site has all the basic things done

its like if you spends tons of dollars to bring a customer in to front desk and u have fight between receiptionists the guy will walk away. web is the same way.

do all the things that you would do in free way for your site and u dont have to work for 3rd party sites instead pay money
