Default XML sitemap + HTML sitemap.. problems having both?

Hi there,
I have always had a html sitemap, but have recently removed it from my site and added a xml sitemap instead.

My question is, is there harm in having both xml for search engines and html for visitors of the site?

Will it harm my site at all if i were to add both? theres over 800 pages to my site so the html sitemap would be large.

please let me know if anyone has info on this topic.

thanks
nicole

The two are different things. The html site map is for your visitors and it creates a great navigation page for the search engine spiders as well. The xml sitemap is more for communication with the search engines about your sites content, its not intended for site visitors.

You should have both.
