Default Google Local

ok, Google local is starting to iritate me. There seems to be no rhyme or reason for their rankings. At teh NRA show i saw Google's booth, and they had no idea. (the employees) Does anyone know what kind of system Google uses to rank in their local listings???

I appreciate any feedback.

If you want local listing just try to get links from site hosted in country where you want to rank. No one would actually tell on what algo do google uses but you can experiment to get good rankings

smargenau, that is a very good question..

I have noticed that my site came up above a lot of other sites in Google local when searching for "web desgn Newtownards" even though geographically it is much further away.

I would be very interested if anyone can give us anything more than a rough guess as to how they work the order out..

Although I guess it helps if you have the address with the place name prominently on your web site, and you site has been around for a while, and it has one or more favorable reviews (check the 'write a review' link in the local listings), and all the other stuff they use for ranking sites in the 'normal' results?

Exclamation Re: Google Local

This is the same question, which hs been troubling me for long. How to improve the rank in the Google Local Business Center? I tried increasing the page reviews for my site but of no use!

I was surprised to see another website to be on the 3rd spot of Google Local Listing, have nearly half of the reviews my site was having.

I would also like to be informed is anything can be done about this.

Thanks & Regards

This depends on the location where the site is hosted and the location where the back links are coming from.
