Ok, in regards to the supplemental issue I think I have just worked why 95% of my pages (over 5000) are in the supplemental index.
After running a scan in my google webmaster tools, every single advertisement is being listed 2 or 3 times in google. As a result I think I am being penalised for duplicate content. Below is my solution: There needs to be only 1 url for each advertisement. From this page Businesses for Sale - Business Classifieds all advertisements point to the actual url. This is correct. When a search is done via category or state (from this page Businesses for Sale - Buy Sell Business for Sale ) it will take take you to a page like this Cafe Business for Sale - Cafes for Sale Australia If you put the cursor over an advertisement title on this page without clicking, it displays down the bottom of the page the actual url Cafe Business for Sale , but when you click on this link it redirects to this link Cafe Business for Sale . As a result this page (and all other pages) are being indexed 2 and 3 times (because you can also search by state). Wouldn't it make sense to 301 redirect this url Cafe Business for Sale ( AND Cafe Business for Sale - Cafes for Sale Australia ), to the actual url here Cafe Business for Sale This way no matter which way a user does a search they will always be pointed to the actual url. The same would apply for google bots. Right? Regards Pete |

I think I understand what you are saying. You have pages in main categories that provide duplicate information to those in sub categories. If this is the problem, why dont you just build the main category page dynamically so that any extra specifics the user requests are filtered to display the appropriate results. This way the main category page would display information on all the businesses in that category or specific information due to a filter.
I wasnt entirely sure what you are asking but hope this addressed the problem. Thanks Jay Last edited by rah; 05-29-2008 at 12:57 PM. Reason: Self Promotion |

That's strange. I usually receive an email if my site is experiencing downtime. I will follow this up.

Those mails can never be 100% accurate. Those mails cannot tell network problems from several parts of the world.
