Default Yahoo Paid Inclusion ???

Just come across this in Overture .. Is this new Yahoo paid inclusion ???

It says

How Site Match™ works
1)Submit your URLs for review and pay an annual fee for quality review of your submitted pages.

2)Once reviewed and accepted into the program, your pages are added to a database of sites that powers search results for major web portals such as Yahoo!, Alta Vista, AlltheWeb and others.

3)When a user clicks your Site Match listing in search results, you pay a cost-per-click fee for that lead. You must maintain a positive balance in your account for your pages to remain active in the program.

4)At the end of one year, your annual subscription renews

Thanks

Well, here a press release from a reseller:
Quote:
As of the 1st of March, 6pm Standard Pacific time, the Inktomi, AltaVista
and FAST paid inclusion programs have been merged into a single service
titled 'Overture Site Match'.

The new service supports all engines formerly part of the Inktomi and FAST
networks, but also includes listings on Yahoo Search and AltaVista.

What does this mean?
======================
All existing orders submitted to either FAST,
AltaVista or Inktomi will be honoured for the full term of the subscription.
These orders will continue to receive distribution as ordered.
As an additional bonus, Inktomi users are currently receiving traffic from
Yahoo Search. This bonus ends on the 15th of April 15th. After this time,
Inktomi Search Submit customers will need to change over to Overture Site
Match if they wish to continue receiving search traffic from Yahoo!

If you wish to submit new URLs to either Inktomi, AltaVista or FAST, you
need to use the new service. Simply login to your existing PrioritySubmit
account and select SiteMatch from the options menu.

What is Site Match?
===========================
Site Match is Overture's new paid inclusion product offered by
PrioritySubmit, which provides a very simple yet effective method for online
businesses to be considered for inclusion in the main body of search results
pages on multiple portals. By subscribing to Site Match, your web pages are
reviewed for quality and submitted to a database that provides search
results to Yahoo!, AltaVista, AllTheWeb, Overture and many other portals.
Your listings will be included in relevant search results, providing your
business with a source of targeted customer leads.
For more information and an FAQ visit: <url of reseller deleted>

Pricing
=================
Submissions to Site Match consist of a annual Review fee and a CPC (Cost per click)
component. The review fees are:

$49 for the first URL from any domain
$29 for URLs 2-10 and
$10 per URL if submitting 11 or more URLs.
Pay per URL and pay per click !!!!.... BRING BACK GOOGLE :-)

Default Stressed Out ...

Does this mean that only the pages submitted using Site Match will be crawled by the Yahoo Slurp (I think that is what it is called)?

Right now I submit about 10 of my most relevant pages to Inktomi but it recognizes and has indexed about 500 others.

I am confused ... will non-Site Match submitted urls show up in Yahoo Results? And if they do will they rank lower than Site Match submitted urls?

And if Inktomi submitted urls are being honored until April 15th, would there be any point in joining up prior to this date?

Looking forward to your ideas!

Kim

No.

It is still not 100% clear, but the best I can tell, if you have good links to your site, you will still be indexed.

From the little I have gleaned so far, is that the PPC/PFI sites will be mixed in with teh current 'organic' search results in the same way that they do cureently with the PFI with inktomi and without a rankings boost.

Here is comment from 'Tim' over at WMW (he is the Yahoo equivalent of GoogleGuy):

Quote:
We will still be crawling aggresively for free. You will not be forced to pay. Site match is an option for content providers who would like a more structured relationship with the search engine. I think you are missing the fact that we are launching free AddURL in the next few days which gives users another option. We are also crawling the web more aggressively.
I guess that the paid inclusion will not be suitable or needed for most sites.

Default Thanks

After some research of my own it looks like it might be silly to pay to index and then pay for clicks to links that already rank in the top 10. If they stay there ...

It seems like it would be like paying for traffic I already get for free ... doesn't it?

There must be more to it though ... if it doesn't help your ranking ... why would you do it? And if it does help your ranking then it must hinder the sites that aren't paying ... thereby encouraging submission.

Any more feedback?
