Quickie - How does Inktomi work?

Hi guys

Just a quickie!
If I submit one URL to Inktomi's Search Submit program, will their robot then spider my whole site, or just the one page I've submitted?

If you are talking about paid inclusion in the past Inktomi have only spidered the page you paid for.

If you are talking about pages submitted to http://submitit.bcentral.com/msnsubmit.htm the pages you submit should be spidered and if you submit a sitemap it should spider all the links on the sitemap.

Inktomi spidering of sites has been more or less automatic fpr the past couple of months if you have inbound links to your site.

It does not look like this will get you into the yahoo index though, you will have to wait a couple of weeks until they get their own add url page up.

That's going to cost a small fortune to submit a whole load of pages to them!

You can always use the free submission link at Bcentral, or get yourself included in some directories and wait for the spiders to find you from the links.
