Default Should I Upload Content to my Blog or Website?

Is adding fresh content to my blog here Businesses for Sale Australia considered by google to be fresh content for my site business-trader.com.au?

So should I add blogs every week or should I upload articles to my site?

All help is greatly appreciated.

Regards

watto

Hi Watto,

You are adding regular fresh content to your site so YEP its helping! One thing that you need to make sure is that you interlink the blog posts and your main site as much as possible. Adding blogs is better than articles i think. Mainly because the blog software interlinks all your posts and creates a search engine friendly structure. But to be honest there isn't that much difference. You are building content whether you use blogs or articles. Id add a couple of blogs posts a week at least. But its entirely up to you. Whatever rate you blog at Google will become expectant of that level of fresh content.

It probably makes no difference but i noticed your blog redirects to http://business-trader.com.au/blog/ and your site re-directs to http://www.business-trader.com.au/ - with the "www". I would have the whole site including blog with the www.

I agree with inertia -getting a blog listed is an all together a different experience than creating a unique URL - personally I am doing Directories, new content by way of related 'new blogs' within the same structure. Some advocate wordpress but pesonally I'm using Google Blogger. Just keep at it!!

If your adding fresh content to your site at regular intervals thats enough. Search engines always look for the fresh content. Contextual links play very important role and increase spiderability of your site. Use contextual links

Add fresh content to the blog because blogs will get indexed very easily than websites

Not saying it is the freshness factor that Google loves so much, but the fact that your website is "activ"e so to speak. It is growing in content. Simply refreshing a page over and over again is not going to help you rank, but adding more content that can help your end users will.

If the blog is on good software that's been configured correctly to ping all the update services, which creates backlinks the minute you post, then this is simply not true. Add in all the folks that subscribe via RSS and get notified of your fresh content, and blogs are much more of a traffic generating machine than the static portion of a site.

So getting back to my original question, would I be better adding content to my site or my sites blog?

I would say, "it depends". Clearly define your goals before you start either project. Are you looking for better search engine rankings? Are you looking for more conversions/sales? Are you looking to syndicate your content across other websites / platforms? Are you looking for prospects?

Blogs should be more personal and less sales oriented. It is less about selling and more about establishing creditability. Blogs should encourage reader comments and feedback. Blogs should be updated on a regular basis. Blogs generally exist to build a readership base or build a community of followers. If this doesn't sound like something for you, perhaps you should consider adding content to your website.

You could post walkthroughs, articles, guides, videos, etc. that relate to your business and may potentially help your website visitors. These are generally more static in nature (no feedback) but are easier to maintain.

Personally I would start by blogging. Make sure to encourage comments / feedback. By doing this you will learn about your readers, their interests, needs, and wants. From here you can branch out of your blog posts. Create articles, guides, walkthroughs, and other content on your website.

You can add blog entry & upload article at the same time; provided that you will rephrase your article son the duplicate content will be avoid. =)
