Default A free toy is a free toy...

Ok, this company that I do piece work for has decided to get in on the SEO game. They have come to me and said that they will buy me Web CEO or Web Position Gold. I have used Web CEO in the past and I like how it works but I know next to nothing about Web Position Gold.
Which is better?
I mean if they are going to buy me a new toy I might as well get the best

I dont use either. SEO software is not going to help you rank at all.

Incrediblehelp is right. WebCEO and WP Gold will simply give you reports on a website's effectiveness rather than teaching you anything about SEO. For that, you need to either already have experience to draw upon or to do a whole lot of learning -- and much of this is going be by trial and error.
Do your client a favour and tell them to save their money and spend it on just letting you design a successful site for them.

No use Wordtracker or Keyword Discovery for that.

I see.
I know some general things about SEO and my wife used to work for Monster Commerce (which has been bought by Network Solutions), so I have a great resource there, I understand about content, tags, key words, clean HTML, CSS, external scripts, and such.
The problem is that the sites that I work on are not my design....the company is outsourcing to India for them and then I will have to clean up the mess. India's end result is usually nothing more than a site designed in PhotoShop, sliced apart in ImageReady, saved as HTML and then sent over to me.
Since the company insists that I use one of these programs then I was wondering which could make my job easier.

Ive used web position extensively and i dont have many good things to say about it. The supports quite good but there are too many areas that i felt needed work. Ive just started using Web CEO and it does feel better so far.

As incredible says. These are great tools for position reports (which the client always loves!) but when it comes to SEO and keyword research you should really be using stand alone applications such as wordtracker or keyword discovery.

Don't use any software. You can use the software to find the ranking positions and also to know about keyword competition thats it. No other use
