I have just set up my first, hopefully of many, e commerce site and I am thinking that from an SEO standpoint it is going to be difficult to achieve any level of ranking. I am thinking about construction meaningful landing pages with content specific to the individual categories in my site that will link directly with the category in SSL site.
Is there a quality (non spam) driven tutorial around that someone is aware of that will help me to build a single landing page efficiently that will attract some SE attention? In addition, I am planning on setting up sub-folders for each page (i.e. www.adorablyyoulingerie . com/A-BABYDOLLS/ index.html or www.adorablyyoulingerie . com/A-ROBES/ index.html ) The "A" prefix is simply to keep these individual information sites together in the main domain folder and not scattered all over the place. Thank you for your input. YE Olde Silverback

I'm sure you mean well, but I would really advise you to go visit some professional websites and try to compare them with your own. Try to answer these questions:
* When I visit a website do I want to read: Quote:
* Not knowing who owns this site, can I trust them with my personal information? * Is this the best site to buy from? If you can't believe that 100% of your visitors (not counting your friends and family, though I doubt even they will buy) will say No! to each of these questions, you´re really better of quiting and not spending any more money on it. If you can accept that 100% of your visitors will say No! to each of these questions, you´re on the right track and should start investigating how to give your website a professional look, credibility and trust. SEO will become important only after those though it would be good to incorporate it so you don't have to redo the whole site once you've got it good enough for people to buy from it. Sorry for being a bit blunt here, don't want to put down your dreams, but if you take it for what it's worth at least they won't turn into nightmares.

Personally, I like blunt. Clearly there is much more work to do to create an effective website. Your observations have merit and there is little value in presenting a less than quality environment to shoppers.
Cheers
