Default Linking strategy question

Hi,

I have 2 sites using the same account under a shared hosting plan. The sites offer similar services but each has its own take on the subject. I was thinking I would link these site through a link in the footer. Would search engines consider this a bad linking technique, especially since they share a host?

thanks

It is perfectly ok to do so. Placing a link on the footer is a perfectly acceptable technique irrespective of whether the linkis internal, external or to the same server.

I was considering something similar the other day. Say an ecommerce site has links to suppliers sites, which are relevant links but, would half a dozen of these encounter problems for appearing like theyre selling links?

that would be ok considering that you hit two birds with one stone as you get to promote both your sites
