Default Does Size Matter?

Hi

I was wondering if size of the website (in terms of number of pages)
matter in achieving good position in SEs?

At some point size matters.

A large site might indicate that it is often updated and rife with fresh, relevant content. Additionally, large, well established sites are more easily seen as "authority sites", usually have more inbound links and thus, more deserving of higher PageRank.

At the same time, a smaller, less complicated site is more easily updated and fresh content is more easily found by busy spiders. Additionally, smaller sites are much easier to tweak for significant gains or to find and recover from mistakes without suffering a long lasting impact.

Big picture, you don't have to be huge to compete with larger, more established sites. It's quite easy to blow the big ducks right out of the water with a much smaller, better focused, well designed and well marketed site.

It's all about focus and relevancy. I run a couple of smaller sites that obliterate scores of multinational conglomerates in terms of placement in the SERPs. Good, solid SEO techniques and relevant IBL's are key to making any significant gains.
