Default Paid Directory Submission

Do search engines place less weight on paid manual directory submissions?

If the payment is for a review of the site (i.e. yahoo) and they reject low quality sites then it should be ok. Directories that accept any site that pays them are seen as low quality and the links will probably not carry much weight.

If google detect the paid submission I guess the links in directories would be useless.

Many directories are suspect today, if all you see are other directories linked within it is an interlinked link farm, stay far from those sorts of directories (link farms).

Always look at the type of links in the directory and decide if you want your websites associated with the directory based on the quality of the sites they link to.

Why would one want to pay to be in a "link farm of link farms" ??

That is unless you are running a link farm yourself, then you would want to jump in on the ponzi scheme yourself until the entire house of cards falls once again as it did a few months ago when Google de-indexed the entire lot of them.

What do you think of this directory service? www. directoryvault .com/service.php This is pretty much a link farm, right? Do you think the social bookmark services are worth it?

You have to look at each directory individually, I would NEVER use a directory submission service for a site I value and want to stay in the search indexes long term.

It looks like the operator of the service you linked to owns 5 or 6 of his own directories and also runs a directory submission service where he links you in all his directories and many others he does not own.

Most of the time you can see what a directory is all about simply by looking at their submission form, if they are asking for reciprocal links or giving a discount for reciprocation, stay far away from it.

One would be much better off simply paying Yahoo versus getting linked in 200 link farm directories.

If you are aware of the free directories, then you could manually submit your site to all of them. Why to use the service?

These days, social bookmarking sites are gaining immense popularity so ping them too.

Using a "directory submission service" for "SEO" is paying to get your websites de-indexed because you do not have control of where your site will be listed, nor do you know if duplicate anchor text and descriptions are included in 500 link farm's directories.

This sort of thing is something new webmasters fall for since they still think getting the most links will take you directly to the top of Google since this has been a false rumor posted on SEO forums from day one.

The paid directory submissions is meant for submission of all information about your site to a directory, the directory owners are not selling links, they are giving you a place in their directory, please correct me if I am wrong, the link you get is from a natural process, it should not be considered you're buying links.

Paid directories are valued that much by Google. They are keeping an eye on those site who engage in buying and selling links who's main purpose is to spam links and manipulate SERP rankings...
