Default How to build "good" links to your website?

Hi All,

Searching the web for SEO strategies I found something interesting.

A key point for SEO success that everybody is/was talking about is creating more inbound links to your website.

Here are few strategies used to do that:
1. list your website to web directories;
2. post comments on blogs or forums with an inbound link to your website;
3. write articles and press releases containing a link to your website;
4. having bloggers to talk about your business and posting a link to your website in their blog posts.

Couple months ago Google changes its algorithm to calculate the page ranking, decreasing the relevancy of the inbound links coming from web directories which implicitly affected the page ranking. Also, due to many spanners, a lot of blogs and forums are inserting “nofollow” in the links posted in the comments, so they are not talking in consideration by the search engines boots. Even if they don’t do that, apparently Google has a way to identify in the most part the links from forum signatures or blog comments, which decrease their relevancy. Same thing happens to many websites that post articles or press releases. Many people that based their SEO plan just on these strategies suffered the biggest hit in PR. There are signed that Google will not stop here, and will analyze the inbound links even deeper.

The only option left, I think, to create valid and relevant inbound links to your website is having bloggers to write about your business/website in their blog posts.

The problem is, how do you find the people to write on their website/blog about you?

There are some companies offering o solutions to this (reviewme.com for example), where for a certain price you can get in touch with a blogger to write about you. The problem is that all these companies mandate the bloggers to mention in the post that they were paid to write, so even if you have a link from that post, Google will consider it (maybe not now, but soon will be) a “paid link”, which will not count for PR. You can find more about this problem here: How To Buy Blog Reviews for Effective Link Building

One solution to this problem, as many people suggested, was to contact bloggers directly and ask them to write about you. How many of you tried this approach? Can you share your experience with us?

Also, do you know another way to build valid and relevant inbound links to your website?

I would appreciate your feedback to this post.

Thank you,
Chris.

Create something Interesting, Valuable and Unique....
These are 3 important factors to consider for you to have many audiences and returning visitors...
There is a great possibility that many of them would probably link to your site or blog about interesting contents on your site...

I think Global is looking for active advice. I too am interested. Filling your site with great content is definitely the surefire way to build traffic but we can't all sit around and wait for the traffic to come, so, as global asked, what ways can we increase the number of quality inbound links.

My 2c is build a list of hundreds of websites, with the webmaster's email address, and fire off emails offering a free article for their site in exchange for a link back to your site.
