Hello,

Is there an advantage in using a home page (example: some-domain.tld/home.html) and an index page (example: some-domain.tld/index.html). The home page would be where the server directs someone when they are looking for some-domain.tld. The index page would be the page that people click on anywhere else on the site that would be a hyperlink using the keywords "some domain".

Sure there could be an advantage... if your 'home' page was geared to steer (or funnel) traffic towards one part of the site, you might make it different from the 'index' page. I can't think of a specific example, but I suppose someone might want to...

This is just a question of internal links... you could replace 'index' with any topic-specific page, and just never link to your 'home' page from within the site. Maybe that's a better way of approaching this question. However, I doubt there's any advantage for Organic SEO... it's probably best used as a traffic funnel.

There's no SEO advantage that I am aware of, if that's what you're after ...

It appears that the index page and home page approach is more of a navigation technique than a SEO method.
