Sitemap for Blog!

Hi All

Recently I was trying to submit google sitemap to my blog, but I was not able to do it.

I have my blog in Blogger.com and I created google sitemap using third party software.

Now my querry is how to submit it to blog. I read some article alos but of little help.

Please do advise.

Have you searched the Blogger.com help? You'll find some good discussions there on this topic.

You shouldn't need third party software, you should be able to use the atom feed.

ps. I don't use blogger.com so I'm not an expert, I use wordpress for two blogs. I just know how to do a google search for: blogger.com sitemap and I came back with these two results that should help you.

both yahoo and google (and most other SEs) allow you to submit the feeds instead of a sitemap or urllist.

Don't understand what the problem is. I have added Google sitemap to several WordPress blogs. How are you adding the sitemap?

Submit the sitemap through the Google Webmaster Toolbar or just submit the rss feed. Yahoo has the same setup.

Why use a sitemap when you can use the feeds?
Anyway, blogspot is already designed search engine friendly (with the archive links to older posts). Why would you need a sitemap to get it indexed?

The thing for which i was scratching my head for hours, is done just in seconds.

Thanks again specially to "imvain2". I did that. I submitted the "atom.xml" to the webmaster tools, and it says it's submitted.

Another thing which I did that day, was I read one article for the same and used FeedBurner . I burned my feeds using the process mentioned in http://www.blogger.com/

Today I just happened to check the indexing status of my blog and to my utter surprise it's not showing in the caching index of google.

This is the message which is being displayed - "Your search - cache:TUSHARVICKKIE - did not match any documents. "

Which was not the same before. Furthermore, for the keyword "tusharvickke" the results are showing up for the blog.

Please do advise.

Try this instead: site:tusharvickkie.blogspot.com

I honestly haven't been paying a lot of attention to the cache feature, however I know when you use what I did, your blog is there.

Yup it did!

So, indexing has no releavance with caching.

I don't believe its as easy as which one is better.

Feeds are great for blogs, because they are automatically generated with most blog systems. And for the most part blog feeds and sitemaps show the same thing.

For self hosted blogs/websites I believe the sitemap.org protocol would be best.

Hi All

I recently encountered problem with submission of Sitemap for Blog.

This is my blog Search Engine Optimizer for which I received the SITEMAP ERROR

This is what is found on Google Webmaster Tools - "General HTTP error: 404 not found "

What does that mean?

This error message is generated when a page is not found. It can be caused by looking at wrong Url or that page isn't there at all.

I know this sounds a bit elementary but what is URl of sitemap?

if you're submitting the blog it MUST be the feed not the site, so when it looked at that URL for the feed it's not there hence 404... That's a best guess answer...

Did you make sure to submit: http://seofreelanceservice.blogspot.com/atom.xml

and not: Search Engine Optimizer
