Default Help With Exporting Analytic Data

Can anyone give me an idea of how to export data from an analytics program into some sort of database or is there some kind of program that can pull info from an analytics program everyday without me having to log in. This kind of stuff is way over my head and I'm not a programmer, so I'm looking for something that is already put together or not too hard to do. Right now, I'm using Google Analytics and IndexTools. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help.

Alex

Google can e-mail you and XML or XSL file containing the analytics data on a preset interval. When logged in to your account, under the report title you should see two buttons, "Export" and "E-mail". Export allows you to download the data on demand, rather than setting a schedule.

What about some type of program that can take those XML files, take them apart and allow me to gather and display the information I want out of it. This is what I'm really looking for, but I'm hoping programming isn't involved.

You can import the data into an Excel spreadsheet quite easily. Since you're not keen on programming, this might be a good solution.

Alternatively, if you export the data as tab or comma delimited text files, you can import those into an Access database or Excel.

  1. If the data is delivered via XML files, there is something called XML Information Set (Second Edition)
  2. There are also XML-parsers, but you did not want to program.
  3. No*Nonsense XML*Web*Development With*PHP - SitePoint Books Chapter 10 may also be of interest to you. Title: "XML and Databases". Example: it explains the phpMyAdmin MySQL XML dump routine.
