In trying to get some "link juice" for my site, I have been looking around for some authority sites in which I can get a one way link with to where I came across this one. I have only found a hand full of sites that use this. I was just wondering if anybody here ever heard of them or has seen their labeling system in use? I am also wondering is the aggravation of labeling my site worth the one way link and "link juice" that I may get? The site I am referring to is:
www.icra.org/labelv02.html "The Internet Content Rating Association" |

Not sure if this is the answer to your question but I was looking at doing a site label. This would put a label on all my pages. Depending on the content of the pages the label would change.
If your asking what page my link from ICRA would be on, It would be here Family Online Safety Institute Associate Members after I add all the labels I could become what they call a associate member with a membership fee. The Associate Membership fee is $100 (USD), €100 (EUR) or £70 sterling (GBP) per annum, payable annually. Not sure if it is all worth it. Thought I get some others opinions. |

First it is free!
Second when you setup the label you should add a link rel for it, or you can add that stuff in your .htaccess file as I already do. (If you will run an http header check for any of my site pages, you will see my ICRA headers too.) Third I recommend all my clients to use it, as it labels images through the HTTP headers, and can support SE (e.g Google Image Search) to tell if they are illegal or for adults pics or not. How can I tell? First Search Engines cannot see images. Second I tried it will clients having sites with Nudity, not sexual-oriented. Just my last cents....

Yes the label is free. I stated to get a link on fosi.org associate members page it would cost $100 annually. Second I would have 3 different labels on my site "one for all my lingerie pages, one for my forums area, and the other for the rest of the site." But my original question was is a back link from fosi.org worth the time, effort and money. Yes labeling a site maybe the right thing to do to help keep kids safe and inappropriate images off of Google. Lastly the images on my site are not indexed to help protect the kids. I was only looking at doing it for the "link juice". I understand the moral justification for doing it. It is a lingerie site. What type of pictures would one expect to find. |
